Only Show in Town

January 02, 2014

As stated earlier, this is the only theatre in town for an area serving approximately 20,000-25,000 residents. That's unacceptable - we deserve a Cineplex or Empire. While this theatre isn't bad in itself, it's inadequate as the main theatre for the area. However, the owners don't seem to feel a need to improve. There are only four screens, all of them small and the seating is tight and lacks stadium-seating. Floors are usually sticky, chairs are well-worn, and the cup-holders aren't always capable of holding the drink. The concessions stand doesn't take debit (unacceptable in this day) and there are no deals/packages. The people that work there - aside from the lady who handles the tickets - are pleasant and nice. The ticket lady needs to learn to smile and be appreciative of spending customers. If this was the "other" theatre in town, it would be just fine. However, as it is all we have less we want to drive an hour to Kanata, this local theatre must masquerade as the main attraction. And of course, we must grade them as such, since the owners ticket and concession prices mirror that of chain theatre such as Cineplex, Empire, or AMC. Only the service they provide is small town.

I always feel comfortable

December 30, 2013

A consistent feeling of a good movie experience. Clean and comfortable, I have no problem taking my family to this location. The only let down is picking a bad movie to go see.

Why Monopolies are bad

October 26, 2013

This is the only theatre in town and with the exception of the one screen on Garrison Petawawa, you need to drive to Kanata-Ottawa to see a show if you're going to go elsewhere. As such, I think they have a take it or leave it attitude there, knowing they have you. The woman who has manned the ticket booth on both occasions we dared to darken the front of it, was rude and confrontational with customers and staff alike. I think she went to the Chairman Mao School of Business and failed Customer Service 101. Cleanliness is passable, concession is manned by teen girls, as per the norm for the industry, and if not surly, they are perky - usual service for a theatre. Bathrooms as usual for theatres - too many users, not enough cleaning. Bottomline: I don't go there because I want to, but rather, I really have no choice if I don't want to drive for 3 hours
