worst theatre on Vancouver Island....Needs to make its high prices reflect a much better experience.

August 01, 2017

Seats are uncomfortable, whole theatre and sound system need a complete updated renovation. Theatre manager is too lazy to put up the movies on the outside display! Would much rather travel to Nanaimo (1.25 hr drive) to see a movie!!!! will not bother to sign up with Tribute because I cannot go to Courtenay's Movie Theatre....if the theatre is loosing money...maybe it is because of the way Landmark has shamefully let the threatre go down hill!

Landmark should be ashamed!

July 27, 2017

Compared to the Country Hills location in Calgary this location should be condemned! We live in Courtenay but went to the Calgary location while on vacation in July, paid the same price for a ticket as Courtenay but got roomy reclining chairs with tons of legroom, & friendly customer service! We will NEVER return to the Rialto in Courtenay unless Landmark upgrades... it is old, dirty & uncomfortable. Are the folks at Landmark even aware if this... reflects poorly on their brand!

Seats are an insult

July 25, 2017

The seats are an insult! Some are broken. Armrests actually hurt! Landmark should replace them with new, comfortable seats in a stadium format. Like the Avalon has had for 25 years!!

July 22, 2017

Sad...just sad. This theater should be closed and renovated. We go to Campbell River now....my back thanks me every time. The single worst theater experience you will ever have. Those seats are the worst!

I may never walk again

July 21, 2017

When I moved to the valley there were 7 screens. Now down to 4 at this dump, They don't even update the outside marquis anymore. Seats beyond terrible. They've seen the last of my money. What an embarrassment.

Bring seat cushions

July 18, 2017

First off Bring your own seat cushions as the seats are as horrible as the reviews indicate. The theatre is so empty now that the owners could easily repair a section of seats in each of theatres one week at a time with little to no affect on business. Concession pricing is comparable to any theatre regardless of what some of the reviews say. Concessions are the true money makers when you go to a movie, a sporting event, etc. Accept it. Cleanliness? Ya it is definitely lacking but so too is the staffing. If they had a few more staff on board, many of the problems would be reduced or disappear. You gots to spend money to make money.

Can't see what's playing

July 17, 2017

Don't even bother to put the listings on the Marquee anymore. Can't even see what's playing! Ticket booth is no longer open, have to wait in line of candy buyers to purchase tickets. It seems like a theatre that's ready to close....Spend some money and people will come.

Not much right here.

July 11, 2017

The astounding thing is that you cannot see what movies are actually playing as IT IS NOT LISTED..outside... like any other normal theatre... it appears this is an abandoned theatre no longer in operation.. If you don't have internet to actually look this up you are out of luck. Nor can you purchase tickets at a kiosk.. you have to actually line up inside to find what shows are playing... and as for any explanation for a show... it's quality or content.. forget it.. the staff don't know.. but you can attempt fruitlessly to find out.. by waiting.. . along with popcorn, licorice purchasers //// for up to twenty minutes. .Seats are abysmal. Worst part is that sometimes the actual show is delayed /stopped due to equipment malfunction. This is completely disconcerting and seems like serious time warp problem that would not exist in any other normal modern theatre.Seats are incredibly scandalously worn, absolutely shot... they are noticeably uncomfortable and I can't imagine how they would be with a sore back..and floors are dirty as are the rugs. But despite these glaring problems, expect long line ups and disorganized service. I haven't been to a movie in a third world country but it seems like the experience superior to this.

We Deserve Better

July 06, 2017

The Landmark is the last show in town. It needs a serious upgrade or a new facility. The place is worn down and dirty. Seats are ancient artifacts and hard to sit in for two hours. The Valley deserves a much better movie experience.
