Horrible customer service

July 30, 2019

I went there with my friend and a miscommunication occurred in which my friend received the wrong snack. The manager would not allow us to exchange the snack at first, yet came up to us before the movie and said we could finally exchange it. It was extremely uncomfortable so my friend and I were both chuckling nervously as the exchange took place. The manager turned to me and stated that I was "mean" for chuckling. This was extremely unprofessional especially coming from a manager and I will most likely not return to the theatre.

Needs an upgrade

July 31, 2017

The large popcorn this theatre sells is a medium at all other theatres I have been at. Rip off. The soft drink seem watered down also.

On January 17, 2016...

January 17, 2016

I want to see The Revenant. I want to see The Hateful Eight. I want to see The Big Short. I wanted to see Creed. SOMEHOW, all that's playing is STAR WARS 7, now a whole month old, and, new this week, NORM OF THE NORTH--which has 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and absolutely no hype. Before this, there was ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS (released Dec. 6), followed by SISTERS (Dec. 18). Do most people who go to movies in Duncan suck this bad? This theatre is careless and slow. Every week, I check to see if the showings have changed and something WORTH WATCHING has come in. Star Wars was the last offering, but it's overstayed itself, then overstayed itself again--DURING AWARDS SEASON. Do I seriously have to commute to Nanaimo or Victoria to get a sober selection of films? Is Caprice Cinemas even a little self-aware, perhaps recognizing that the reason it can't pack its venue on the OPENING NIGHT OF STAR WARS 7 is because it's alienated local customers and lost that business to big city cinemas that can at least keep up a pulse? The shameless formula: Cinema 1) Have the biggest blockbuster on as long as possible, and Cinema 2) Bring in some relatively-tame special interest picture or the latest kiddy trash. Owned by the same people who did an alright job running the Caprice and Rialto in White Rock back when both of those venues were in business (RIP Rialto, you wonderful little moviehouse), the interests of their distant Duncan relative are a pale comparison. Step it up, guys.

Have had varying experiences with the staff, one week friendly next week not so much. Sound system sucks, the biggest problem is, no damn cup holders.

I see you got new seats... Aren't we fancy?

April 29, 2019

Excuse the sarcasm in the title but do they really think that new seats are enough? They aren't even comfortable and there is little leg room for anyone who is taller than 5 foot nothing. The place is old, dirty and totally drab. And deciding to make one line for tickets and concession is silly. Not to mention that old lady with the weird coloured hair who looks totally grouchy and gives me the stink eye every time I've gone there (which is funny considering that I rarely ever go. Maybe 2-3 times a year and always because a friend wants to. If it were my choice I would drive to Victoria or Nanaimo). I don't think she should dealing with customers unless she can be a little more presentable. Or just hire staff to stay out front that fit the part better.

Get Some Adult themed movies.

March 10, 2018

This theatre was recently purchased and it was my understanding from the article in the local paper that this theatre was going to offer reel movies thereby increasing the amount of selection for the adult viewer. This has not occurred and in fact there is even less selection for adult themed movies, indie movies are non existent, just seems to be a venue for marvel comic movies and Hollywood remakes. Get some variety its BORING.

Expect to wait a while if you only want admission

November 25, 2017

In the past you could buy your admission ticket at the door. You had a choice if you wanted snacks. Now you have to stand in a long concession line waiting to pay for a simple movie ticket. I have dietary issues so I don't purchase any food items, so why should I have to wait in the concession line? They need to fix their ceiling tiles as one looks like it will fall any day. They also need to fix a mark on one of the screens. I like to support local businesses so I hope they make a few changes.

Owner is a HAG

June 27, 2014

The manager/owner is a bitch! I usually do not like to comment about people and maybe if it was only once I wouldn't say anything, because people have bad days, but she is just terrible! We try to go and have a good enjoyable time at the movies, I am with my brother's friends who are being respectful and quiet and she yells at us about it being her theater and that she can kick us out whenever she wants to. She also told me to make them "behave."We were sitting, talking quietly waiting for the movie to start. This other time we were watching a movie and a very drunk man was yelling at the screen the whole time and she did not even come in to talk to him! Talk about discriminating youth! Nothing is done about an obnoxious old guy but we are sitting nicely before the movie even starts and we get yelled at! Too bad this is the only theater in town because the owner is not a nice person.
