Single mother Nana/79441/">Nana (Jennifer Connelly) is struggling to raise her two sons Ivan (Zen McGrath) and Gully (Winta McGrath) in a small rural town. The youngest son, Gully, is terminally ill. In a last ditch effort to find something to save his life, she takes him to a traveling miracle worker. Ivan brings his pet falcon, who disrupts the proceedings, but it causes Nana/79441/">Nana to discover that she has the ability to heal. Her discovery, however, comes too late to save Gully.
Two decades later, Ivan (Murphy) is a falconer, with a wife (Oona Chaplin) and baby. A journalist comes to him, wanting information about his long-estranged mother, who is now a healer. Ivan and the journalist trek to the Arctic Circle to find her.
