In 2001, during the beginning of the allied offensive forces against the Taliban regime, filmmaker Majid Majidi went to east Afghanistan to visit the refugee camps of Makaki and Mile 46, where a number of disseminated families were camped -- including widows and orphans fleeing the bombings that struck large cities.

In 2002, after the fall of the regime, Majidi returned to Herat and the over-populated camp of Maslakh, in order to learn the hopes and the daily struggles of the survivors. Although destitute, forced to beg and endure the rough climate, the children still play and men gather to play music.

In short, the Afghan refugees old and young, continue with their lives.
