Originally created by Igor Stravinsky and Vaslav Nijinsky for the Ballets Russes of Serge Diaghilev in 1913, The Rite of Spring as presented here by the Bolshoi Ballet is choreographed by Wayne McGregor for the 100th anniversary of the work's creation.
This ballet s considered to be one of the most revolutionary works of the twentieth century, as it evokes an antediluvian world where a young virgin is chosen to be sacrificed by dancing to death, as an offering to the Sun God.
