Acorn TV delights fans with the new season of Murdoch Mysteries each year on Christmas Eve, but because of the pandemic, the new series began filming later than usual. Instead, they offer fans this special, which was taped on the set of Murdoch Mysteries on September 25, 2020.

Hosted by Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) himself as he introduces the story behind each song, this behind-the-scenes music special features a seven-piece ensemble from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra performing a concert of Murdoch-era music (circa early 1900s). Conductor is Robert Carli with violinists Yolanda Bruno and Eri Kosaka; Theresa Rudolph on viola; Emmanuelle Beaulieu Bergeron on cello, Jeffrey Beecher playing double bass; Eric Abramovitz on clarinet and Sanya Eng playing harp.

Music includes the "Opening Theme from Murdoch Mysteries" by Robert Carli, "Pavane pour une infante défunte" by Maurice Ravel; "Clarinet Quintet in B Minor," Op. 115 - Mvt IV; "Suite from Murdoch Mysteries" by Robert Carli and Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag."
