Very Disappointed that the Amherst theatre is closing.

September 27, 2022

I am very disappointed that the Amherst theatre is closing . I guess no more going to the theatre until a new one comes to Amherst.

Its Time Cineplex

September 27, 2015

Its time for Amherst to get a new Theater! Amherst would draw from as far as Wentworth, Pugwash, Tidnish, Sackville(NB) and all the areas in between. It does not draw from those areas now because of the quality of the seats, comfort and screens. It has a great staff, the best popcorn of any theater and is kept very clean. The issue is in Moncton and in Truro they have state of the art theaters so us folks in Cumberland county (as much as we want to support a local theater) end up wasting more money and travelling further. If we had an updated theater in Amherst, even if it was only 2 screens I guarantee it would be more than well supported. If you build it WE will come.

very good popcorn

We are new in town and were very happy to see a movie theatre here. I speak from experience as my husband and I owned a theatre in a small town in western Canada and just recently sold it. We updated it and found a loyal customer base but of course there will always be people who figure the city theatres are better. Maybe estecially they are fancier but so are the prices of admission and concession. Amherst theatre is old yes and yes it could be updated but also take a look at the price of admission, very very reasonable, concession Is a bit high but it cost them more to purchase the goodies. Small things like a coat of paint, rehang the drapes in the auditoriums etc goes a long way. I also think having a separate area to buy tickets more appropriate, but the staff a wonderful. Please continue to support this theatre because once it closes you will never get another one. If people only realize how much it cost to bring it up to date and how much of a percentage the distributors take the general puplic would be shocked. We have been quite a few times and yes the seats are uncomfortable but for what it costs to see new movies it's a total bargain.

Outdated

December 19, 2013

There is probably no theatre that needs more renovations than this one. Until that happens everyone will continue to either not go to the movies or take the plunge and drive to Moncton/Dieppe.

Needs updating

June 20, 2014

I've lived in Amherst for 30 years. This theatre has been (pretty much) the same for as long as I remember. It is seriously outdated! I've never had a negative experience with staff - they seem alright. In the winter it is cold inside - bring a warm jacket! In the spring/summer the air conditioning is too high, bring a sweater! (This of course is my personal opinion) I don't bring my family here much. It's newer and nicer in Moncton and I spend the extra time and money going there.

For gods sake stop being lazy and put up posters!

April 15, 2015

For the love of god get off your asses and put up signage! How the hell are you supposed to run a theater when you have no up-front advertising.!

awful

June 01, 2014

you can hear other movies playing while trying to watch your movie! The theater is very small and very outdated. Could use an update. I rarely go to this theater because I'd rather drive to Moncton/Dieppe than go to this theater.

building is rundown and dated. One of the main doors would only open part way and not enough to enter. Bathroom tap was running because it would not shut off. Staff is awesome.
