Julian (Bryce Gheisar) has struggled to belong ever since he was expelled from his former school. To transform his life, Julian's grandmother (Helen/102818/">Helen Mirren) finally reveals to Julian her own story of courage — during her youth in Nazi-occupied France, when a boy sheltered her from mortal danger.
As the only two Jewish kids in school, Mlle Petitjean (Patsy Ferran) and Julien (Orlando Schwerdt) escape from Nazi forces and hide away in a cottage with Julien's mother (Gillian Anderson). They find first love in a stunning, magical world of their own creation, while they do everything in their power to stay alive.
