In the trailer for Wildlife, a teenager named Joe (Ed Oxenbould) and his mother Jeanette (Carey Mulligan) witness a fire destroy a forest. His mother says the trees leftover after the fire are called “the standing dead.” His father Jerry (Jake Gyllenhaal) leaves to fight the forest fire but his wife thinks he’s cheating on her, insisting men only do things because “they either go crazy or it’s a woman.”  She also says people are drawn to things they shouldn’t be as we see her having an affair with another man. The trailer ends with Jerry and Jeanette sitting for a picture, while Jeanette starts to cry.
