In the trailer for The Endless, Justin (Justin Benson) explains he learned the members of a cult he and his brother Aaron (Aaron Moorhead) were once a part of all planned to collectively kill themselves, and that’s why the two left. Aaron receives a tape of a member (Callie Hernandez) saying they’re looking forward to the “ascension” and he tells Justin he wants to visit the cult. Upon their return, the brothers notice things there are very strange: the members look younger than they are, there are three moons in the sky and something is dwelling inside the lake. They learn there is some invisible entity that is controlling everyone and if they let it control them, it'll keep doing so "over and over again."
