In the premiere teaser trailer for Nocturnal Animals, Susan (Amy Adams) reflects on her life and every bad choice that has led to this place of fear and regret. As Susan tosses and turns, unable to sleep at night, her friend Alessia (Andrea Riseborough) becomes concerned, to which Susan remarks, "I've never been able to sleep. My ex-husband used to call me a 'nocturnal animal.'" But this time, what's keeping Susan up is the manuscript she received from that same ex (Jake Gyllenhaal), eerily titled "Nocturnal Animals," a dark, twisted story that delves into the even darker secrets of Susan's past.
