In the official trailer for Lady Macbeth, we hear a young woman, Katherine (Florence Pugh) being told how she and a plot of land were bought and not even worth the money paid. Katherine is told to keep indoors by her verbally abusive husband, who eventually leaves on a trip. Unsure of where he’s gone, she is left on her own and in the company of the man’s equally dismissive father. Left to her own devices, Katherine meets and falls into a passionate affair with a man named Sebastian (Cosmo Jarvis). But their love is tested after their secret relationship is revealed and after the sudden disappearance of her husband, leaving them both at the mercy of those who would try to control them. 

Lady Macbeth opens in select cities July 14, 2017.
