Annie (Rose Byrne) is fed up with hearing about rocker Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke) from her longtime boyfriend, Duncan (Chris O'Dowd), who's obsessed with him. When Duncan comes across a long-lost acoustic version of an album released years ago by Tucker Crowe, who hasn't been heard from in 20 years, Annie decides to write a scathing review of it online. To her shock, Tucker sends her an email telling her he agrees with everything she wrote and they begin a correspondence.
