In the official trailer for A Ghost Story a person in a white sheet is standing among the ruins of a home. Then we see a small home and hear a young woman, M (Rooney Mara), explaining to her husband, C (Casey Affleck), that her family used to move a lot when she was a child. She would write little notes and leave them in the house so that in case she ever returned, pieces of her would be there waiting. We then see the white cloaked figure of a ghost walking up to a home and flash to a scene where M is shown C's body on a stretcher in a morgue. We then see the cloaked figure watching over M, ever present through the events that follow as she begins to move on with her life after C's death.
