It was a great movie. It should be a wake up call to everybody.

User review rating: 0 March 26, 2007

I left the theatre heart broken that my own species would destroy another species for a bowl of soup.

just an incredible movie, I hope everyone who goes and sees this movie will take the messege to hart. A great film

I have personally dove around the coast of South Africa and experienced swimming under a ceiling full of hammer-head sharks, along with great white cage diving I developed a new passion for these great creatures. These images will always be remembered and hopefully one day be renewed. Rob Stewart you were able to recreate these experiences on the big screen while providing an in depth look into the brutal massacre of shark finning. This film has driven me to make a difference, I hope others if not act upon this at least see this film. I for one think the sales of shark products in a country such as Canada should be prohibited, as I left the

Go see SHARKWATER. I went to an advanced screening of SHARKWATER, all that I can say is WOW! What is SHARKWATER? Well, it is a spectacular documentary that started out as a way for director, Rob Stewart, to show people that sharks are a wonderful creature that should be marveled, not feared; but it turned in to a lot more. First off, SHARKWATER is visually stunning; there are many wonderful shots of the oceans most perfect inhabitant. Stewart shows us how politically corrupt countries are allowing the slaughter of millions of sharks every year. Stewart sets the record straight and this documentary will show how the dedication and passion of a few can start conservation revolution. I will rec

I enjoyed it even more than SHARK TALE, my previous favourite film about sharks.

I was immediately moved and compelled to do something and I did! The time to act is now in order to save our planet.

User review rating: 0 March 26, 2007

SAVE THE SHARKS plese ( SOS ) I love the sharks. Just everyone in the hole world wanna se this movie, the world will be change..

User review rating: 0 March 26, 2007

Finally someone who did this film, its about time people realise the importance of Sharks...I think the next step would be an international campain againts country who don`t protect sharks in the Tourism industry, it would make a "killing"!!!

Loved this movie. It was a great wake up call. I went home an donated money immediately. We need more of these films. It is such a beautiful and sad portrayal of life underwater. I only went to this film initally because my boyfriend wanted to go...But I am a bigger fan now.

It is so sad that the destruction of a species was going on with relatively little attention from the rest of the world. This movie has made the public aware, and now its time that we all do something about it.

User review rating: 0 March 26, 2007

Everyone should see this movie!! Visually stunning and thought-provoking, I was moved beyond words. By the end of the movie my tears were replaced with anger. But as hard as it was to watch the atrocities sharks endure in the name of commerce, ignorance is never the answer. Hopefully others feel as compelled to help as I did when I left the theater. Twenty-two of us went to see the movie last night – it was FANTASTIC! The team did a great job in filming and story telling. Two of the folks were so moved that they both swore off fish until they can figure out a way to ensure that the fish they are eating is not a result of by-catch. We’ll be getting copies of the movie when it comes out on DVD.

My son went back to see it again....it`s now his favourite movie

User review rating: 0 March 25, 2007

This film goes far beyond debunking shark myths (though Rob Stewart and crew do this brilliantly). It brings to light the political economy around shark finning and the very real dangers to sharks, as well as, to humans if we do not stop this unethical and horrific practice world-wide. We are all a part of the same ecosystem -- when are we going to wake up and realize that if one of us aren't safe, none of us are?!

Very, Very good documentary. Upsetting though to see the truth, please past the message on about this movie. It is a movie everyone must see.

The best documentary i have seen all year. I think that this movie teaches alot of people that sharks dont try to harm people. it makes my concern of sharks fade away when i will be swimming in the ocean this summer. i never wanted to go in the ocean knowing that sharks kill people but now i feel more confortable now that i have watched the movie. so over all i think that this movie is the greatest documentary that i have watched all year and i will be very happy to see another one! kristen

I have travelled to over 30 countries an an avid scuba diver during the past 25 years. I have a tremondous respect and appreciation for sharks and all the oceans creatures. I`m hopeful that Rob`s vision and goal is realised through this wonderful film.

this movie had tears streaming down my face. i left the theatre a changed person. the cinematography is stunning and peaceful, and rob stewart has done well for a species that he loves so much. he taught the audience respect, shame and action. my only critique would be empowering the audience more in being part of the solution to these crimes. how does the ordinary person get involved in the campaign. he had me raring to go, but gave no destination. fabulous film. inspired.

I thought it was very thought-provoking and made you think. Why not spend more money on the ecological system as opposed to outer space projects. We should be paying more attention to our beautiful earth and it`s inhabitants (man and animals). On a visual note the movie was so "wow".

User review rating: 0 March 25, 2007

Tragic and enlightening; what a documentary should be. Easily one of the best documentaries I`ve ever seen. Actually, likely one of the best movies I`ve ever seen. If you go for nothing more than the underwater footage, you won`t be disappointed, nor will you be if it`s a social commentary movie you want. Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic!!

oh my god. i was.. inspired! definitely FIVE stars. it made me want to do something, you reached out to me. im only 14 and i want to stop these disgusting acts that are endangering not just the sharks ecosystem but also our own. It was remarkable. I was speechless after watching it. It made me cry. I can't believe we have been SO.. oblivious towards this! Rob Stewart is AMAZING. No one in my family knew this was going on, and now we (or well i know I am!) to stop this! There are no words to describe what emotions i felt after watching this movie. I have always loved watching shows on animals, and when i went to florida this past march break all i could think of was " I want to swim wi

What a moving and remarkable documentary. It's scary how many people choose to look the other way to what is happening to such a vital part of our world. The world needs more people like Rob Stewart who see these creatures for the beautiful creatures they are. We protect the warm, fuzzy and cute but why does it have to be about esthetic apperance? Bravo!!

If no one gets attacked and eaten by a Great White, I will not see it. I took me a life time to fear sharks, don`t ruin their imaige by making them the victims. Jaws and Deep Blue Sea are the greatest shark movies ever. Rob Stewart just turned them into cute little puppies.

This was the best documentary I have ever seen!!! It was entertaining, and enlightening. I cannot believe that we, the general public, have been so oblivious to such disgusting practices that are endangering our ecosystem. We should be very greatful to Rob Stewart for bringing it to light! Well done :)

User review rating: 0 March 24, 2007

Truly a remarkable documentary, well written, well portrayed and stunning. Everyone on the planet should own a copy if this. Videos like this should be shown in every high school, to encourage and inform our youth. Mainstream movies should become a thing of the past in comparision to such moving footage. We should all be ashamed in how we treat our planet - Sharkwater brings that shame to light. truly the best documentary I have ever had the pleasure to view.

This movie goes right up top with one of our favourites. It was such a great movie that helped the general public know about what is happening to the sharks around the world. We are so oblivious to a lot of what is happening to our ecosystems and this movie is a great way to get word out so we can help protect such magical creatures of the sea. This movie was so well put together; the footage, the music, and the drama...fantastic film. I hope everyone goes out to see sharkwater as it will help us all work together to save our world as we know it!

User review rating: 0 March 24, 2007

Sharkwater is the movie the sharks have been waiting for, and literally couldn't continue to live without. It will open the general publics' eyes to a slaughter that goes on relatively unchecked. Hopefully, it will initiate public action which is long overdue. Joel Shilliday Shark Research Institute

Rod Stewart is to be commended for this stunning and beautiful work.

This movie has a strong message that really sticks with you. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am very glad to know that more and more people are starting not to fear sharks. Why are we scared of them? Because they have lots of teeth. Why are they REALLY scared of us? Because we cut of their fins, that have no taste, for a soup and then throw them back into the ocean to die. Anybody who wants to see an exceptionally good documentary should go see this.

User review rating: 0 March 24, 2007

This movie was one of the best documentaries i have ever scene and it brought a big message to the world trying to get them to stop Finning Sharks and try to protect these misunderstood creatures

User review rating: 0 March 22, 2007

I was definitely blown away. I had no idea this was going on! This movie is both beautifull and sad at the same time, and i encourage people of all ages to go and see it! you will never look at the ocean the same way ever again. Thank you to Rob and the filmakers who produced this amazing movie, keep doing what you do best!

User review rating: 0 March 22, 2007

This was a definite eye opener. I had no idea that something like this was going on. I think everyone should go see this film and take your children too. Not just to see the horrible crime that is taking place but to see the beauty of the sea and why we need to protect it. Thank you Rob for bring this to the light of day!

I saw the preview last night and I sent the comments below to all of my email contacts this morning - I thought I'd share it with you....Congratulations to Rob on a job well done. I hope Everyone sees this film. "I saw the preview for an extremely important documentary last night called Sharkwater and I feel compelled to share a personal recommendation with you. The documentary was made by a young Canadian marine biologist/underwater photographer from Toronto named Rob Stewart. It's his first documentary. The film has gone on to win multiple awards at various international independent film festivals. Reviews are describing it as a cross between "Winged Migration" and "Bowling for C

I just saw the premier screening of Sharkwater here in Boston at our annual scuba exhibition, Sea Rovers. I don't think I will ever be the same again. Like Rob, I have always had a love for marine life, but sharks have always captivated me. I am also a technical diver and dive mainly rebreathers. Many of the feelings that Rob expressed during the presentation, such as being so moved that he was speechless the first time he saw a shark in the water, were my same experiences. I've also traveled the world, to Costa Rica and the South Pacific and swam with these magnificent animals, never feeling fear but utter joy and amazement to be in their company. I have to say I cried throughto
