User review rating: 5 December 13, 2013

Wonderful movie about Walt Disney and the making of Mary Poppins. Tom Hanks is very believable as mr Disney and Emma Thompson plays the author of Mary Poppins extremely well. It is a wonderful movie about a wonderful man. Another success for Tom Hanks

Great movie. Wonderful story about a film that we are all special memories about. Allows up the ability to introduce it to our children.

Disney made a film about Disney making a film. It was wonderful. Definite film of the year so far. I learnt so much about one of my favorite childhood movies

Saving Mr. Banks in one word "Astounding". Captivating performances by Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson as Walt Disney and P.L. Travers. Once you see this movie I guarantee you will rush home to watch Mary Poppins!!

Fantastic film, my wife and I truly enjoyed it. As usual Tom hanks and Emma Thompson were great. Thank you Tribute.ca for the tickets.

It was a good movie. I enjoyed the historical aspect of it but it was a bit slow moving.

Another great Disney film--always enjoy the acting of Tom, Emma and Collin.

I received 2 free passes to attend a premiere of Saving Mr. Banks. Thank you to Tribute for the free passes. I thought this was a very enjoyable movie. I didn't realize before seeing the movie the history involved in Mary Poppins. Tom Hanks did a wonderful turn playing Mr. Disney. A movie for the entire family to enjoy. I highly recommend this movie!

Difficult to watch due to P.L. Travers' negativity, but, overall funny & heart warming.

User review rating: 4 December 13, 2013

Saving Mr. Banks is a nice movie. Tom Hanks did a great job under director's John Lee Hancock guidance. Emma Thompson was barely recognizable as Pamela Travers, the hoity toity overly critical author of "Mary Poppins." Overall a nice time for the family.

Very enjoyable and well done.

I've heard it said that "Tom Hanks doesn't make a bad movie" It is true this is well done original theme movie that drew me in to really be interested in the characters and the movie,This is an excellent film for all ages.

User review rating: 5 December 13, 2013

Great acting by Emma Thompson. Tom Hanks and Paul Giamatti. Enjoyed finding out about how and why Mary Poppins was written and filmed.

User review rating: 4 December 13, 2013

An entertaining and sobering movie on the pre-production power struggle between the author P.L. Travers vision vs. the vision of Walt Disney and his staff for Mary Poppins. I never knew how difficult it was to make this movie and how much the author did not want it to be entertaining, musical or animated. This movie made me more appreciative of Mary Poppins and it has piqued my curiosity to read the original book that inspired Walt Disney to pursue this story for over 20 years. Great story and cast. Huge surprise was Jason Schwartzman as Richard Sherman singing Feed the Birds.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Was great that the old tapes were saved to get an idea of what really happened. Can't wait to sit down with the movie Mary Poppins and see it from this new perspective. Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson both did Oscar worthy performances

Saving Mr. Banks brings back the magic of Mary Poppins. Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson are a comedy duel as they start the creation process of our beloved Mary Poppins. During the movie you not only see the struggles that Ms. Travers went though as a younger age but we are reminded that all of us have our own Mr. Banks.

User review rating: 4 December 13, 2013

Great movie! Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson are amazing. It was fun to have a look behind the scenes of the creation of the masterpiece that would become Mary Poppins!!!

User review rating: 4 December 13, 2013

This movie provides a fantastic overview of the trials and tribulations of Walt Disney and his efforts to make this timeless movie. Great performance by both Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson.

User review rating: 5 December 13, 2013

This movie was awesome, we did lots of crying, laughing and saw some real meaning in life. I have never seen Mary Poppins, so will have to get the real movie now. Tom Hanks was great in the role of Walt Disney (my favorite movies), and Emma Thompson was perfect for her role. She showed a soft side on many occasions and you really saw how her life as a child was. Tom Hanks (Walt) expressed some of his childhood as well. Emma's chauffeur was great for his role as well. A very heart warming movie. Thank you for allowing me to attend this great premier.

Great movie doesn't say it all. It is one of those feel-good movies that brings you whimsically back to recall days of your childhood and seeing the movie "Mary Poppins" for the first all over again. Acting was terific. Mr. Disney was well portrayed by Tom Hanks. It's one of those movies you can see again in the theatre or purchase for home. It's great for the whole family. The music and movie clips from the original 'Mary Poppins' score was a welcome addition that made the story-line come to life. If you've never read the book it would be a reason to pick one up; and in addition to pick up a copy of the original 'Mary Poppins' book would make a wonderful gift-set. Would recommend th

super nice movie !!!

I had never been to an advanced screening before However once I settled into my seat I was really transported into the movie's story. It was such a lovely movie with strong characters that in the telling of the story you could really identify with P.L. Travers. The relationship between Disney and Travers was delightful and both Hanks and Thompson virtually disappeared into their roles as great actors do. I would happily pay to see this movie again so I could take my family to see it again. Thank-you Tribute.ca and the rest of the sponsers for the chance to screen this very special movie early! A Christmas treat for sure.

User review rating: 5 December 13, 2013

True to Tom Hanks, his performance was believable and of course amazing. The fact that the movie is authentic makes it heartwarming. We laughed and cried. Walt was able to break a 20 year emotional wall to PL Travers to make this incredible movie, Mary Poppins. My Gramma took me to see it...cost her $.25 each for our tickets...well worth it! Thank you Tribute

Interesting story, Emma Thompson was excellent in her role as the reluctant Mrs. Travers and Tom Hanks was also very good as Walt Disney. The other cast members particularly Paul Giamatti as the driver made the story an enjoyable insight into the making of Mary Poppins.

Very great movie! The actors, the story, everything was so amazing! Si drôle et à la fois si touchant par moment, le film à su me transporté dans un autre univers! A movie you must see!

User review rating: 4 December 13, 2013

Emma Thompson was amazing in this film. So was Tom Hanks. I loved the insight in the creation of the classic film Mary Poppins.

User review rating: 5 December 13, 2013

One of the best movies I have seen this year, I see Oscars in the future for this movie and actors!!! Tom Hanks (Walt Disney), Emma Thompson (P. L. Travers), Annie Rose Buckley (Ginty) and the rest of the cast were all wonderul. This movie is a must see!

I thought that it was a great movie: story line, acting, etc. The storyline was completely unfamiliar to me.

First seeing Mary Poppins when I was 6 year old and watching Wonderful World of Disney Sunday Nights as a child, this movie gives one insight into the both Walt Disney and P.L. Travers the author of Mary Poppins. This is an excellent movie, it showed that both the author and Walt Disney did not have the easiest lives as a child. Both went on to make a difference in so many other children's lives. It shows that one often deals with the shadows of our past, yet show love and loyalty to a parent who often impacted the way we look at the world. Both individuals went on the make a difference in the lives of so many children. I caution parents that this movie is not intended for younger children.

Loved this movie, loved the story! Tom Hanks is always a fav!!

User review rating: 4 December 13, 2013

I really enjoyed this movie. It was nice to be entertained without the use of foul language or violence. Emma Thompson is very, very good and Tom Hanks makes a great Walt Disney. I laughed and I cried. I really feel the need to rewatch Mary Poppins now, I think I will look at her through different eyes.

User review rating: 5 December 13, 2013

Great acting by both Hanks and Thompson.

User review rating: 5 December 13, 2013

It was a feel-good movie that made you laugh and cry. Growing up as someone who loved Mary Poppins, I felt connected to the story and really appreciated learning the background behind this amazing tale. The actors were fabulous and I would recommend it to all.

User review rating: 4 December 13, 2013

The young girl who played the young Helen(Emma) did a great job. She was a strong lead playing opposite Colin Farrell. I really felt for Mrs. Travers at the end of the story, Emma did a great job expressing her attachment for Mary Poppins and the family. Paul Giamatti and Jason Schwartzman were both great supporting players.

User review rating: 5 December 13, 2013

wonderful telling of the "other side" of the story of how we were blessed with Mary Poppins. It was heartwarming to get to see the relationship and who the book was really written for. :)

User review rating: 4 December 13, 2013

quirky, cute. dark at times. emma thompson was phenomenal, as per usual. really enjoyed :)

User review rating: 5 December 13, 2013

I would like to thank you for the invitation to see the Advanced Screening… it was "beautifully sad/heartwarming" …We felt her pain & cried for/with her. Well done. Definitely a 4 or 5 star

User review rating: 5 December 13, 2013

What an amazing movie! The cast gave Oscar worthy performances. The film was humourous, sad, thoughtful, honest, and touching. Go see it with any family member! I'd be suprised to find someone who wouldn't find this movie entertaining.

User review rating: 4 December 13, 2013

Emma Thompson was great (as always). The story moved along at a brisk pace, but was a bit cloying at times. Tom Hanks did a great job but I couldn't buy into him as Walt Disney. Growing up with "The Wonderful World of Disney", I saw the real Walt Disney many times on TV and Hanks wasn't able to capture that child-like wonder that Walt had in real life.
