If this movie was based on historical fact then it was inaccurate. Despite of the constant battle I found it very slow and overacting so obvious. I kept on looking at my watch. The narration was the only good part of this movie.

well, this movie has been rated a 4, but most of the comments are against it, why... well because it sucked, way too long and like many others my boyfriend and i hung in there becuase we thought it cant be this bad there has to be a climax...were there was`nt, save ur money dont go see it, TROY now that way a great movie, this is not even worthy to compare....

People this movie tells a story about someone who lived in 300 B.C. How can you say the story was inaccurate. Greeks of that time looked different than today, do you know Greece was occupied by Turkey for over 300 years, that would get rid of anybodys "blond hair" and "blue eyes". Roxanne was not Persian, she was a Bactrian princess. If you do not know the history then shut up and do some research first.

Alexander the Great is not known to be "the great" due to his nobility but by his accomplishments in history. Everyone seem to know nothing. He was a figure built by his time and opportunity. And yes, homosexual activity used to be considered normal (it was common) untill our society fell behind.

After I heard about all those TV documentaries about making and becoming Alexander, I was rather hyped to see the film. But when I actually saw it, I left a little disappointed. The acting is brilliant in the film ... but I don`t know ... I couldn`t focus for the entire 3 hours! Some parts of the story were slow and there wasn`t enough action scenes. I don`t know, something. I think that the movie depended too much on its narration. Despite it`s flaws however, I definately think that it`s worth watching.

This was possibly one of the worst movies ever. It was a confusing mess of a story. This movie played out more like a documentary, with the story being told through an exhaustive narrative. I actually contemplated ending my life more than once over the course of this 3 hour debacle.

alexander stopped being "the great" after this movie. He was portrayed as a neurotic selfish paranoid who lost his focus in life. He was nothing but a weakling from the movie.

Exceptional, especially when a culture (Greek) is true to itself. We see in Alexander a `human` in every degree. Fallable, Heroic, Lustful, Confused, Idealistic, Reasoned. But what turns many off, is the bisexual nature that Alexander is human enough to show. This is what the Victorians and Puritians of this age fail to embrace, the whole picture. And hence we see the decline of the appreciation of art and acting, when we fail to see the `humanity` of this epic. Instead of the `morality`. This is a saga explaining the nature of humanity in all ages. To be ruled by `reason` or by `passion`, this is the question.

All I am going to say is... after I watched this movie, I get a big headache. The plot is confusing, and unorganized. Totally opposite rating compare to TROY. I feel like I watched a documentary film.

I was hesitant when going into see ALEXANDER because of previous attempts by american filmakers to reproduce greek history. Alexander was great, there was excellent character building..instead of jumping right into his feats as an adult, they started off in his childhood--which was relevant. The fight scenes, the intimate scenes, the flashbacks, the fastforwards..all wonderful. Great script, great acting...oliver stone is an exquisite director. This movie is fantastic…

-Too long, poor editing. -bad story telling. -unfocused. -confusing dialogue. -no climax. -no empathy for alexander. +didn`t shy away from Alexander being bisexual. +acting was good, except for Collin. -- I came in wanting to love this movie but it disappointed me.

Is it me or did Angelina Jolie seem like a Vampire? Honestly this movie was a waste of time, if anything its a rental. The story was pretty inaccurate and I was totally disappointed. If you like this movie, I take it you`re a kid who thinks everything is cool. Or you just have horrible taste in movies

I hated this movie! It totally sucked my will to live -- and that is not an exaggeration! It was long, boring and pointless. I was extremely disappointed (including with the acting) and couldn`t wait for the movie to end. People were actually leaving the theatre mid-way through the film. I kept hoping that things would improve as the movie progressed -- but no such luck! I felt sorry for those waiting in line for the next showing. Everyone in my party fully agreed! I wouldn`t even watch this on TV if it was free!

First of all, whoever that thinks this was a great movie obviously knows nothing, and I mean " ABSOLUTELY NOTHING " about history. This movie consisted of 90% lies and 100% US propaganda. I`m sorry but since when do greek people have blonde hair and blue eyes?, and I wonder who showed Oliver Stone PICTURES of persian woman, He must either be blind or stupid ( or maybe both ). And just for everyone`s information, they refer to Alexander as the GREAT, not because he was "good", but because what he did was huge. This movie was quite horrible. I wish I would have known it was three hours so I could have left it for a rental. I did not like the whole Colin Ferrel being all Mel Gibson-esque because he is a horrible actor and does not really compare. I was surprised with the performace of Angelina Joile--it was horrible. This movie was a waste and I couldn`t wait to leave. So much inecessary scenes full of talkikng about nothing. i give it NO stars.

honestly I wouldn`t mind if the actors were talking authentic, but I do like the strong accent of angelina jolie :)(she was hot as always). with few exceptions it was a great movie for The great conqueror its great to be Macedonian this days eh ;) we are proud of him

An amazing film. Great directing, unbelievable acting, Colin Ferrall truely amazed me. Although there were a few scenes that disturbed some people, you have to keep in mind that Alexander the great was a bisexual, and this movie was just trying to recapture his life to every last detail. Overall an unbelievable film, Definatly Oscar worthy. 5 out of 5. WATCH IT !

Absolutely brilliant. The homosexuality was BARELY touched upon and can be easily handled by anyone with an open mind. Collin Farell justified the role as Alexander, and Angelina Jolie looked HOTTER than HELL (too bad she wasn`t in it aggressively). Nevertheless, moving dialogues, remarkable acting, and the honesty of the tale made Alexander simply inspirational, and sent chills down my spine. TOTALLY worth the money AND time.

One of the absolute worst movies I have ever seen. I thought the movie had no flow, lacked a great script and was confusing at some times. I thought there was too much emphasis on his sexual identity instead of warfare. You`d have to pay me to watch this again...

The movie was historically accurate as Hollywood would allow. Prior knowledge of Alexander`s life would made one appreciate the details and symbolism that Stone presents, the awkward pauses and silent tension truly depict not just the physical battles but the emotional strife Alexander experienced with his Macedonian countrymen. Far more than a blood and guts movie, an intellectual film that shows sometimes that greatest wars are not fought on a field but within one heart.

It stank... that`s right boys and girls: STANK! The movie was choppy and the interjected narrative bits really were more of a distraction than anything else. Save your money! If you think it`s a must see wait for the DVD and rent it for 5 bucks. You`ll be sorry you wasted a fin, but glad you didn`t shell out at the box office!

this movie is terrible... Bad dialogue, story, terrible cinematography, uninspired directing. I could not believe that Oliver Stone could have made this film. He was a master before this. It`s too bad for the actors also... Their performances where forced, but without the story being there, one has little to work with.

Excellent movie, indeed it does take a bold and brave step of trying to accurately tell Alexanders life. All those "Gay" scenes were neccessary as that is how it was at those times. Oliver Stone did an amazing job along with the rest of the cast.

I for one am not semi literate and I believe I must warn everyone about this movie. The entire premise of the movie is a good one, Alexander and his attempt to concur the world. However I believe that there was entirely too much dialogue and not enough fight scenes, only 2 in a 3 hour movie! If you cut the movie by an hour it would have been a good film. THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT I MUST MAKE IS ABOUT THE LOVE STORY IN THE MOVIE. Everyone knows that the Greeks were Gay and it is fine to allude to that in the film. If Rosario Dawson is Persian!! then I`m the Queen of England. Rosario has a mixed background none of which is middle estern! Was Oliver Stone afraid to show what Persians really look like, oh... perhaps because they look too much like the rest of you ... but no , we have to look different because we are the bad guys! both at ancient and present time. Besides looks, the movie was full of wrong information about Persia`s glorious history and culture.
