Waste of time and money - no backstory and weak scripting (take out the f@$#s and you lose 50% of the already nonexistant dialogue). Where did the Western Forces, Florida Alliance, and all the other political entities come from? What was the trigger that pushed the country over the edge? Total let down...sheesh!

Dune: Part Two User review rating: 1 Wednesday, April 17, 04:34:07 PM

Having read the books wayyyy back when (as I'm the 1970s) and found them plodding and pedantic I was hoping that a modern movie rendition would add some much needed punch and pizazz to the series. No dice. This thing was dull and boring, and even the cgi couldn't add excitement to a plot that was boring in the 70s...! It appears that all the hype is by gen z viewers and reviewers trying to prove that they themselves have some depth by liking a "classic", but nothing can save this from the dud that it is. Seriously, save yourself some money and hard pass on this (or at least wait until it's free on Netflix, so that you can turn it off after 1/2 hour).

Underestimated this movie the first 15 mins, then it became very interesting after that first 15 mins.

Really ambitious miniseries has a number of scenes with considerable emotional power, but it's often maudlin and awfully pretentious. The lead characters are gay men and straight women. The male characters were convincing, but the female characters were thinly drawn. Mary Louise Parker's character was an insufferable flake. All of her lines of dialogue were really purple, and I felt she was more cruel and selfish than the bombastic Roy Cohn. The ultimate subtextual irony is that none of the characters seem to realize how they've been poisoned by politics. I don't think Kushner even realized it. A mixed-bag.

The actors played the roles very well. Great, great movie. Everyone should see it.

Ok, so to start with, mental illness is a serious topic, and people affected by it will find this movie offensive as it basically supports each and every stereotype and misconception there is. Having said that, conversely it’s hilarious as a comedy, with the patient becoming the "normal" guy and the therapist increasingly eccentric. Great supporting cast, with various highly memorable scenes, but it makes you cringe at times.
