Aquaman threepeats as weekend box office champ

Aquaman
 continues to do big business at the top of the weekend box office for the third weekend in a row. With only Escape Room opening last Friday, there weren't big changes this time around. Check out the results below!

Coming in first at the box office for the third weekend in a row was Aquaman, about a man (Jason Momoa) who struggles to claim the throne to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis from his younger half-brother. It earned an additional domestic gross of $31 million for a total of $260 million.

Debuting in the top five in second place was the thriller Escape Room, which took in $18.2 million.

Dropping to third place was the sequel Mary Poppins Returns, starring Emily Blunt as the beloved magical nanny. It took in an extra $15.9 million over the weekend for a total of $138.8 million.

Bumblebee, starring Hailee Steinfeld as a teenager who discovers a yellow VW bug that turns out to be the Transformer, Bumblebee, dropped one spot to fourth place. The heartwarming movie earned an additional $13.2 million for a total of $97.6 million.

Rounding out the top five was the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which dropped one spot to fourth place at the box office, earning an additional $13.1 million for a total gross of $134 million.  ~Alexandra Heilbron

    Sometimes I feel like the studios discuss opening movie dates to give certain movies a chance. Like Marvel chose summer to make their $$$ and DC agreed to open Aquaman to very little competition at the end of the year so it could make $$.
