In the second trailer for The Front Runner, Senator Gary Hart (Hugh Jackman) is revealed to be the front runner for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination, before a reporter asks him if he has a traditional marriage. We learn Hart has been having an affair with a younger woman, and the press uses this information to tear him apart. He lashes out at them for their stories as his campaign begins to dwindle and he loses support. At the end of the trailer, a title card explains the film is “based on the untold true story of the groundbreaking president that never was.”
