In the trailer for The Dancer, a coarse man is bragging that his daughter will one day be the greatest dancer in the world. We see the girl (Soko), who is deciding on her stage name, and chooses Loïe. Loïe, who is American, is told she should go to Paris to further her career. She's a hit, but then a new girl shows up named Isadora Duncan (Lily-Rose Depp). Although at first, the two girls become friends, with Loïe helping Isadora launch her career, they soon become rivals.
