In the second trailer for The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Clara (Mackenzie Foy) is told that although it's a difficult time, everyone must do their best to enjoy Christmas. She responds that she won't enjoy anything right now. Her godfather (Morgan Freeman) tells Clara that her mother was the cleverest inventor he ever knew. A key unlocks a door and Clara finds herself in a world created by her mother. She was their Queen, and Clara is a princess. However, the world holds a dark side as well. Princess Clara finds herself fighting to save the world her mother created.
