The second trailer for Alita: Battle Angel opens on a post-apocalyptic world, filled with destruction. In this new world, the powerful prey on the weak. But we hear a young woman declare in a voice filled with resolve, "But that's not the way it has to be." The scene changes and we see Doctor Ito (Christoph Waltz) telling a human-looking cyborg girl that when he found her, her human brain was intact. She says it's the loneliest feeling, not to know who you are, but he reassures her that in time, she'll remember. He introduces her to a young man, who says, "It's a harsh world down here. You've got to be willing to do what it takes." When Doctor Ito is threatened by a female cyborg with blades for arms, he tells Alita to run, but she takes the cyborg down, saving Ito's life. We learn that Alita is the last of her kind, and contains technology that had been lost for 300 years. She's shown a body suit that she feels a connection to and realizes she needs to find out what she doesn't know about herself. However, that makes her a target.
