In the official trailer for Personal Shopper, a young woman (Kristen Stewart) named Maureen works as a personal shopper in Paris for a French celebrity named Kyra. Maureen reveals she and her twin brother Lewis made an oath — whoever died first would send the other a sign from the afterlife. It's been three months since he died, so she goes to the place in Paris where he died and asks him if he's there.

She thinks she's had a sign from him in the form of a scratched cross on a wall, but she's not sure. When she goes to Kyra's place with shopping bags, she finds blood soaked into the bedsheets. Shocked, Maureen runs away in a panic and goes to the police to tell them Kyra was murdered. They seem suspicious of Maureen and she begins to worry that she's going crazy. When she goes home, the same cross from the house is scratched into a desk.
