Waris Shah
Waris Shah... synonymous with HEER. This sufi saint wrote the epic love story 'Heer Ranjha' which is referred to as the greatest gift to the lovers of all time. During the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar, music and all other forms of art were at the peak, courtesy the state’s patronage.
But it was during the regime of Aurangzeb that artists and musicians got persecuted , as Aurangzeb believed that music takes man away from GOD so it should be shunned.
