Advertisements. They can make you laugh, they can make you cry, they can make you think. They can even make you go out and purchase the products that they advertise. But did you know that they can also win awards? The London International Advertising Awards have made a name for themselves by honouring the best of the best commercials from around the world.
Far from being just the same old ads you see (or ignore) daily on your t.v. screen, many of these ads were originally seen on theatre screens in Japan, Argentina, Spain, Germany, and other countries. Very few of them have ever been seen in Canada before.
With winners from almost 20 countries in 25 categories, these commercials were meticulously analzyed and evaluated by a panel of judges and awarded in November 2007. These really are the most recent best of the best.
You will see a total of 75 different advertisements, all winners chosen from an original entry pool of 8,500! Ads for beer, clothing, cars, and even public service announcements have all made the grade this year.
Awards are given out for overall best in a category, as well as for best overall cinematic techniques, such as cinematograpy, editing, score, and more. It’s the Academy Awards for advertising, and you can see every winner, all in one 85 minute sitting. That’s every single winner in less time than even just watching the Oscar ceremony!
