Gaby, a rebellious 16-year-old student with a bad attitude, has attended Sainte-Victoire school for five years. An accidental burn years earlier forced her to give up swimming and from that point on, she has been aloof with her fellow students. The principal of the school decides to take her under her wing and integrate with her peers. She asks Gaby to help a new student, Sandrine, get settled in the school.

The two become friends and Gaby winds up lowering her guard and opening up. However, the painful memory of her life-altering burn rises to the surface when Gaby finds out that she's been assigned to tutor Frederick, the champion of the swim team, in math.
