Arrogant publicist Stuart Shepard (Colin Farrell) steps into a phone booth to call his mistress, Pam (Katie Holmes), who doesn't know he's a married man with a wife, Kelly (Radha Mitchell). When the phone rings, he makes the mistake of answering it.

The caller — a serial killer with a sniper rifle who has his sights trained on Stu — knows who he is and that he's been cheating on his wife, and tells him he's going to give him a chance to come clean about his misdeeds. However, if Stu hangs up, the caller (Kiefer Sutherland) will shoot him dead.
