During the height of the Korean War, a medical unit at a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M.A.S.H.) is reassigned two replacements. Captains "Hawkeye" Pierce (Donald Sutherland) and "Duke" Forrest (Elliot Gould) are a couple of womanizing trouble-makers who add a little humor and a lot of trouble to the unit, and not everyone is happy with the new arrangement.

Each member in the unit reacts differently to the antics of the new combat surgeons, and together, the group faces the horrors of the war. Meanwhile, the new head nurse (Sally Kellerman) and the disapproving Frank Burns (Robert Duvall) plan to correct the unit’s sudden lack of order once and for all.
