More than two thousand women and men, young and old, experienced dancers and beginners, gather every year for seven days in the Allier region of France for Le Grand Bal, a festival of traditional dances. The days are devoted to classes and workshops, while the evenings, dedicated to concerts and dancing, often last until the early hours. Some of the participants wish to reconnect with their roots. Others discover new cultures. All aspire to the intoxicating communion of bodies and minds.
