For a period of 12 months, director Guillaume Sylvestre accompanied a half-dozen social workers working at the North Bureau of the Montreal Youth Center, a university institute that reports to the Quebec Youth Protection Branch.

These workers, all women with one exception, ensure the well-being of children removed from their parents' care and then sent to foster families or placed under observation at the center.

At the same time, QYP (DPJ) workers must also deal with the parents of their charges, who are often irresponsible individuals addicted to drugs or who suffer from mental illnesses.
