Didn't open at all this season. Drove by it the other day, has a For Sale sign on the front lawn. Sad. I'm not making any excuses for this one in particular, but when the film industry decided in their infinite wisdom to stop producing filmstrip reels (for drive-in's and other small town theatres) and demanding they switch over their projection equipment to all digital format, it was the last nail in the coffin for the drive-in industry. Why, you ask? It costs between 300,000 and 550,000+ to switch over the equipment. Guess what, folks? Drive-ins were barely scraping by before... this new mandate made it impossible. What few are left will also vaporize (all the independent small town ones first). "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot" - Joni Mitchell
OUR SINCEREST APPOLOGIES
September 18, 2013
So....on behalf of the Mackay family & The name of The Oxford Drive-In ( what it used to be) We would like to appologize to all who were our loyal customers for many, many years, that we are no longer there to make things run smoothly. We enjoyed all our years there, the experiences & many memories. Thank you all who were part of it... good & bad. My parents, myself & family dedicated our lives to that place, as well as The Capitol Theatre. Regrettably we were pretty much "ousted" out of there last year by a new owner that knows nothing of the business. Unfortunatly, by what we hear... the place is not doing well at all & sounds like it wont be long before it goes under. Again... our sincere appologies to all who loved & were part of our business. We did not willingly leave The Drive-In & miss it A LOT!!! I really hope they do something to turn things back around. Sincerely, The Mackay Family

The management that ran it before was way more polite. Now it just seems like they want the money . Last year when me and my family went there it was a lot more family oriented , but now I don't want anything to do with this drive in. The prices have gone up, and now my 7 year old has to pay .. Before he was FREE! Which we always looked forward to . No wonder why it's already closed for the season , crappy customer service! Unbelievable !!!!

On sept 14 2013 went to the drive-in planning on watching a movie or two and guess what no one was there to let all the people in. Cars were lined up down the side of the road waiting patiently. We waited there until 8:20 and left. When I got home I called the drive-in and there was a message on the phone saying we are closed for the season see you next year in may. You would of thought that if they weren't going to be open they would of at least put that on their site on the computer that they were closed for the season and have no movies posted. But in stead they had movies posted on their site showing the movies that were suppose to be playing. In my opinion they have no respect for the ones that have been supporting them keeping them alive and they need to think a little bit more of who and how a business keeps thriving.

bathrooms need to be cleaned a little more often. we were there September 1st and both the men's and the women's were disgusting. a lot of people were commenting on how they could at least have someone keep an eye on the cleanliness of them more often. it wouldn't take much to have someone go in there and clean in between the two films it's not like they are going to be that busy in the canteen.
old movies old everything
