In 1960 Normandy, Mina, a sensible and beautiful housewife, seeks escape from her routine life by going to the movies with her teenage son Tommy. After they watch West Side Story , they are invited to have a drink at a dance hall by Matthias (Berling), a man who sat beside them in the theatre. When her husband finds work building a bridge and is compelled to stay away from home for the week, it allows the growing passion between Mina and Matthias to flourish.
