Towards the end of the summer of 2001, with Montreal in the throes of a housing crisis, the homeless, people with inadequate accommodation and a group of young militants take over a vacant building -- the Centre Préfontaine on Rachel street. The meeting soon turns into a political squat in support of the right to have accessible housing for all. One of the demonstrators, documentary filmmaker Eve Lamont, films the adventure from the inside. However, the police authorities and the municipal administration never stop exerting pressure on the squatters, who are finally driven out Centre Préfontaine after two months of occupation.
