A poor man is sent on an unexpectedly traumatic journey in this independent drama. Xinren (Yang Feng Jun) left his home in rural China to come to the big city in search of work.

Xinren has landed a low-paying position at a construction site, but when one of his co-workers dies as a result of an accident on the job, his boss (Jia Hong) offers him a way to make some extra money. Xinren is given forged papers saying the late workman died under a doctor's care and told to escort the body back to his family, who live in the country.

Xinren discovers the address he's been given for the victim's family, and his job becomes an odyssey through China's farm country as he tries to return the dead workman to his loved ones. While shot in China in the Mandarin language, Soul Carriage was the first feature film from British director Conrad Clark.
