Korean filmmaker Kim Dong-won directs the documentary Song-whan (Repatriation), a story of North Korean political prisoners who suffered in South Korean detention camps. In 1992, Kim met two men who had been arrested for spying and were serving a 30-year jail sentence. They each served their full sentence despite opportunities to denounce their beliefs.

The film follows their decade-long struggle to return home to North Korea following their release. Repatriation won the Freedom of Expression award at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival.
