Tino Ponce operates Circo Mexico, a circus that his family formed in the 19th century. Ponce's young children work as performers in the circus, which travels across Mexico's countryside in search of paying customers. Ponce works day and night to maintain the circus's faltering financial fortunes. But a growing resentment brewing within his wife about their hand-to-mouth existence suggests troubles on the horizon.
