Montreal, 2010. As a consequence of dramatic climate changes, black truffles begin to proliferate in the popular district of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. Husband and wife team Charles and Alice, who own a small café, take advantage of the situation. The inhabitants of the district experience this exceptional opulence for a while, but then the price of truffles plummets. Meanwhile, a mysterious company opens up an office in the district.
