Release Date: November 22, 2006

Sixty films and videos will be screened over the course of the one-night festival, each one no longer than sixty seconds in length. Each screened entry will be based around the same theme (this year’s theme is growth), although contributing artists have been encouraged to interpret the theme as broadly as desired, and in any genre they choose.

As a result, the One Minute Film and Video Festival is made up of new work—almost all of it having been produced to meet the requirements of the theme. The One Minute Film and Video Festival came about as a result of a dare among lapsed-filmmaker friends in Toronto.

The idea was to complete a project based in imposed time and subject-matter restrictions to make it easier to get motivated. The festival will feature an international line-up of one-minute documentary, experimental and narrative projects. Prizes will be awarded by a panel of prominent members from Toronto’s art and film communities.
